Toby

Subject: another successful rescue: Montana

Toby the 3 yr. formerly shy salt/pepper Mini at the Dedman Foundation shelter in Ft. Benton trekked his way across Montana and Washington today along with "Ashley", a 13 yr. American Eskie also going to rescue.  Toby went to the very able hands of Karla from our list and a member of Seattle Purebred Rescue.  I'll let Karla do the update on his new home but just wanted to thank everyone who emailed me with offers to help Toby.  Here's the URL with his post grooming picture on the Ft. Benton Recently Adopted page:

Toby's new owner has been in grief counseling for several months since her MS died at the age of 15.  Her therapist recommended that she get a new friend. She has owned Miniature Schnauzers for many years and was very lonely for the company of another.  She called me every couple of hours on the night before Toby was due to arrive and then showed up an hour early on the day of his arrival.  I wish I could share with you all the huge bear hug she gave me. Her hand were shaking with emotion as she stroked Toby's head and told him how beautiful he was.  Even I got teary when Toby kissed her face.
