Rudy & Rocky
| Subject: Helping A Rescue As most of you know, we adopted Rudy, l0 and Rocky, 2 in mid January. They are doing so well. In talking about schnauzers being given up or back, I have noticed that I have never seen 2 dogs as close as Rocky and Rudy are. They are constantly laying and sleeping together, or if we are in the recliner and there isn't room, Rocky will lay right on top of Rudy. I do think they miss their former family, who had to give them up due to moving overseas. We probably give our furkids as much attention as anyone possibly could, but I think they would have been devastated if they had been separated after being given up. We used to have 3 minis and a scottie, and none of them were ever remotely as close as these two are. Rocky and Dodger play all the time, but it is always Rudy that he goes back to when it is time to rest. It just amazes me at the closeness of these two, and I do worry about Rocky being so much younger, if something should ever happen to Rudy. Our son had Dodger and we took him also when he went overseas in the AF and couldn't take him. Rich has been back twice to visit and Dodger has been so excited about his being here, but when he leaves again after a few days, Dodger does not seem to mind. Of course, they only had him about 6 mo. when they had to go. I wish people who just "give back" or "give up" their dogs, could understand what they are putting them thru. There are indeed circumstances when you just can't take them with you, but I wish some of these people could see how devastating it is to them. Everything is so disposable anymore, and I guess some people don't realize how deep the feelings of these little guys really are. They give their hearts to you, even when they are mistreated and ignored. Thru Rudy and Rocky, I now understand what these little guys go thru when losing their other family. I do think they are truly happy here, but I still notice them "just looking" at times, and wonder if they are thinking about their earlier family.
