Slick Baxter
05-03-94 to 12-03-05

August 28, 1998 - February 12, 2005

Hillock Cityhill City Slicker, CDX, MX, MXJ went to the Rainbow Bridge this morning to be with his dad, Higgins. I think this photo really depicts his enthusiasm for the sport of agility.  I call it the "tongue picture" and you can see why.

Slick was born into my hands on 5/3/94. His dad was Ch Hillock Hocus Pocus, UD and his mom is Ch Hillock Renaissance CDX (Wren). I had planned for him to be my obedience dog and his brother Ernie who was from another of Wren's litters with a different sire was to be my agility dog. When Ernie died at age 2, I decided that Slick could do both. He was 4 years old when I started training him to do agility. In the end he achieved more than I ever hoped for. He got both of his Master agility titles coming out of retirement to finish his MXJ earlier this year. He was 1/3 of the way to his Utility Dog (UD) obedience title when he died.....although he got a "virtual UD" when a friend of mine who is an obedience judge ran us through Utility 3 times at our club building and he "qualified". That unofficial fun title is pretty special now.

I miss him lots but know he's up there with his dad waiting for me.

Tribute to Baxter

Painting by Cindy Brassfield

"You Are My Sunshine"

Baxter was taken from our lives,

but he lives on forever in our hearts.

He was a very special boy

 who brought so much love and light and happiness to our lives,

and those who knew him will never forget his special love

and the way he loved to sing his favorite song,

You are my Sunshine!

We can never fill the emptiness we have in our hearts,

but we can be thankful for the

short time we had him in our lives,

and know he waits, somewhat mpatiently

for us to join him.

This is a very sad day which

brings back heartbreaking memories,

so please think of us today

as we pay tribute to Baxter's memory!

"Neither Agility Nor Obedience Star, But Always Champion In My Heart"

Buddy came to share our lives on January 12, 1991, my birthday: so small I could hold him in the palm of my hand. His life mate Holly joined the family a week later. It was love at first sight and never a cross bark was given or received. Holly died April 26, 2004 at 13 years-old. And while I believe Buddy never got over it, he achieved the distinction of being the longest-lived Schnauzer I have ever had, departing this life at age 15 years, six months.

I thought that'll be the day,

when you say good-bye;

But, it turned out to be

the day I lay down to cry;

I'll see you all again

and I'm tellin' you why,

because that'll be The Day, ay, ay when I Die."Jim Blaine

WrenWren Booger
(Ch Hillock Renaissance, CDX) 9/26/90 - 8/3/06. 1/13/1997 to 3/31/2007

I got her when she was 7 mos. old.....my little bird. She was just a month short of 16 when she died. Her favorite things were snoozing on the couch, eating cookies and going for walks. She did the "conformation thing" grudingly and finished her championship almost in spite of herself. She only did Obedience because I wanted her to. She finished her Companion Dog Excellent title in just 4 shows. I think she wanted to "get it over with". She had three litters of puppies and was a great mom. She spent her retirement years putting up with the other dogs and putting them in their place if they wanted her to play their silly games. One of my fondest memories is when

I put her in her little red coat and we walked

in the snow together. My sweetie!
