Erika finished her RAE on Saturday, and got her first leg towards the next one on Sunday. Erika loves to do Rally, sometimes too much because she gets excited and semi-wild, as she did this weekend, so our scores were not what I know we were capable of, but they were enough to qualify and get the green ribbons. We did better (and worse) the first of the month at my obedience club's trial on April Fool's day. That day we were the first in the ring in Excellent at 8:00 am and she broke the honor for the first time ever (I took my attention off of her and put it on the next exhibitor in the ring who was having severe difficulties - so it was both of our fault). But after that, she performed well the rest of the day, getting a 98 and first place in Rally Advanced. Our club had two trials in one day and she scored a 96 in both Excellent and Advanced for fourth place in both classes. Lexie got her first four RAE legs at the two trials, and had a lot of fun in the mean time. The two girls and I keep busy with agility classes on Mondays and Tuesdays and obedience/rally on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Hi All,
Having a pretty good time here. The dog shows started yesterday and gave Dianne and I a chance to reconnect with our west coast friends. We got to watch many schnauzers. Yesterday at the terrier specialty Dianne and Mattie placed 4th in a tough Open B class. Indee was a total doofus acting like he'd never been in a Utility ring before. Everyone said he looked like he was having a good time....his handler was not!!!! Today Dianne showed in Open B and Utility B obedience, but it was not Mattie's day. I showed Indee in agility and he came very very close in Excellent Standard and had a wonderful qualifying run in Jumpers With Weaves. I am very proud of him. Jackie got her first Novice agility Jumpers With Weaves leg with Elliot. Jalynn and Breezy Q'd in Ex JWW also with a very nice run. We're back at it tomorrow, but we have to rest up now, so I'm off to nap. Lynn Tamms tamms@athenet. |

ERIKA'S AND
LEXIE'S EXCELLENT ADVENTURES
Erika and Lexie have been bugging me to tell you about their last two weekends. They have been resting this weekend.
On the 4th of July weekend there was the OKC Classic Dog Show, which had obedience and rally trials along with it. Erika was entered in Rally Excellent "A" on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and in Excellent B along with Advanced B just in case. On Thursday, she scored a 90 and tied for first but got second due to time, on Friday she scored a 94, but that was third place and on Saturday, she earned her third and final leg for her Rally Excellent title with a score of 92 and third place again. On Sunday she qualified in both Excellent and Advanced to earn her first RAE leg (only 9 more to go!).
After the show Sunday, the girls and I went to the farm for the 4th of July - my college room mate and God Children live in eastern Oklahoma. The girls had a big time, running through the pasture and even got to go out on the lake in the boat one evening. Erika's 4th was less than fun for her because she got in to the trash and ate some hot dogs and was a very, very sick girl on the 4th.
Then last weekend there was an ASCA (Australian Shepherd Club) obedience trial and even though Erika has her ASCA CD, I entered her to keep her in practice as she needs one more AKC CD leg (which I hope to get this coming weekend). Erika got two more ASCA CD legs (she now has 6). I entered Lexie in sub-Novice on Saturday just to get her used to the ring and (at least around here) sub-Novice is fun, every dog gets a ribbon and a toy. Well Lexie got a first place and a second place on Saturday and had such a big time carrying her toys out of the ring and playing with them, I had to enter her on Sunday. She again got a first and second place ribbon as well as two toys and now thinks that the ring is a fun place to be. Hopefully that will translate to next weekend. I have attached a picture of Lexie with her ribbons and toys with from Saturday.
This coming weekend, we are entered in a trial in Amarillo. TX. Erika is entered in Novice A to hopefully get her last leg and earn her CD and in both Rally Excellent and Advanced to hopefully get her second RAE leg. Additionally, little Lexie is entered in Rally Novice B to hopefully earn one or two legs towards her RN.

Well, Erika finally achieved her Companion Dog title this past weekend in Amarillo, TX. She was the very last dog to compete Sunday afternoon, and her off lead heeling certainly was not pretty, but we got a score of 182, which was good enough for fourth place. Kennalea - I have to find the Italian Charm seller, so that I can add the CD charm to Erika's bracelet! The girls and I had a very good weekend. In addition to earning her CD, Erika got one more leg towards an RAE title. (And that included starting an Excellent course and taking a 16" jump - when she refused the 16" jump on the second jump, the judge stopped us and let us start the course over with the 8" jump we should have had). Little Lexie was entered in her first real show and came home with two legs towards her Rally Novice title. She scored a 92 and and 83 (the 83 is another story.) The show was fun for me as there were quite a few schnauzers around, two of them working on UDX legs and one getting a 100 on the Rally Advanced course. I have attached a picture I took of the two girls sticking their heads out of the top of the crate at the Oklahoma City show earlier this month. Hello again ! Well little Miss Super Dog strutted her self right in to first place again this weekend, despite the boob who was supposed to be "handling" her. She patiently waited for me to throw my dumbbell three times yesterday and twice today !! One of us has some serious homework to do, and it ain't Rosie !!!!!! She was her wonderful, confident little self and again, I couldn't be prouder of her. This was a UKC trial this time and these two legs earned us a new title !! She is now UKC-CDX Von Stocker's Wild Rose, AKC CD. CGC Once again my mentor and traveling buddy Joeanne Butler was there to capture it all in pictures. Here is our photo with the judge after earning the new title. She is some dog, and is taking to the new name "Super Dog" quite well. Riding the clouds again !!

I have two brags on my little schnauzers! At the shows in Grove, Oklahoma last weekend, Erika was entered in Rally Advanced "A". We had shown earlier in the month and had one NQ and a 94 (4th Place) in the Oklahoma City Obedience Club's trials. For those who don't know - Rally Advanced is all off lead and in the first trial, Erika was all schnauzer, sniffing the ground profusely. Second one, she decided t pay attention. So we were entered again in Rally Advanced "A" in Grove. On Saturday she got a 91 and First Place! That was quite fun for both of us. The second day, the course was tough (I think there were either seven or eight advanced exercises), as was the judge and we scored a 77. There was an off-set figure 8 with two real looking stuffed dogs that totally freaked Erika out, so we tried it three times and finally got through the figure 8, but lost 10 points. We also lost 4 points for each time Erika barked (she does that when she's having fun - just one bark at a time - and -1 point at a time!) But bottom line, she is now Kirk's Erika das Schwarze, CGC, RA, (2 legs on her CD), ASCA-CD, and Therapy Dog. Now on to Rally Excellent! A small brag on little Lexie, too. We were enrolled in our third session of beginner's class at our obedience school (however this has been the only one that I have made it to more than half the classes, due to work travel). Last week I asked the instructor if she thought we should repeat Beginner's again or go on to Novice - she said - as I expected - take Beginner's again. But Thursday night we had a heeling test and based on the class's judgment, we scored between a 9 and a 10 and the instructor told me that there was no reason for us not to go on to Novice class.

Hi Folks, It’s been a long busy spring around here with the performance shows all starting up. Breezy and I have been very busy with earthdog and agility trials over the last month. Last weekend we went north, to Helena Montana where we enjoyed a 3 day agility trial. In addition to Breezy running in Excellent, Daria also ran, getting her very first chance in Novice. Wow, what an exciting weekend. Breezy had 3 great days but at the level she is working, we needed to qualify in both runs (standard AND jumpers) to earn a double queue. Unfortunately, we made one error each day so didn’t earn any double queues. Daria on the other hand had an AWESOME weekend. Only excellent dogs ran on Friday, so Daria ran Saturday and Sunday only. But she did great, running clean and FAST in each of her classes with no errors. So fast in fact that we came home with 4 first place finishes earning 2 legs each in her standard and jumpers classes. She was smoking!!!!! Well, after a short busy week, our local agility trial started up today. Last night, a handful of us endured the pouring rain to set up tents and rings, and courses. Spring outdoor shows are NOT for the faint of heart!!!. This morning as I drove out south, the rain was falling down but by the time I arrived at the show site, it had let up with just wet courses and lots of black clouds. Excellent dogs in the standard class went first, and Breezy ran great but took an off course nixing our first run. After waiting for the open dogs, to run – it was time again for Daria and the Novice class to run. For all of you that didn't know, Daria's full name is Daree's Naughty by Nature and she's another great dog from our Moderator Gwen Mulheron's breeding. Thanks Gwen, for a great little dog. She's a go getter. I left her at the start line, went out a few feet and we were off. Jump, tire, A-frame. Hey mom, it’s quicker if I go AROUND the tire, then I can beat you to the frame. NO Daria, you have to take the tire first. Ok, through the tire and up the frame. Then jump and a left turn to the weave poles. Weave, weave, weave, weave, weave. Then a whole bunch of jumps and the dog walk. Then the tunnel, a jump and the table. Another jump, the teeter, the chute and a jump. Over the line we went with just the single refusal at the tire. In the novice level you can have mistakes, 2 refusals to be exact in addition to an off course. Because we went back and took the tire after she missed it, we completed the course correctly earning a score of 95 and qualifying for the 3rd and final leg of her Novice Standard (NA) title.After a quick course change, the excellent dogs were back for their jumpers run. Breezy ran fast and clean and had a few scary moments but she hung in tight and walked away with a qualifying run. Only the double queues count toward the MACH (you need 20) but she can still earn speed points (time under course time) on individual runs. Her time was good enough for second place. We still had a wait for the rest of excellent and the open dogs to run but finally we were back to the last class of the day with the Novice jumpers course. The weather had cooperated for the most part with semi clear skies and even a little sun but by now the clouds had come back and the wind was getting pretty strong. Daria was the first dog to run (small to tall today) and I left her at the line, ready to go. Off we went, jump, jump, tunnel. Hey Mom, is it ok if I run along the OUTSIDE of the tunnel???? No Daria, you have to go through the tunnel. Ok Mom, I can do that. So on we went, tunnel, weave poles jump, jump, jump, then jump, jump, jump, jump, jump jump, jump (there’s a reason they call this jumpers!!!!). We crossed the last jump with time to spare, again earning just a single refusal, a score of 95 and the final leg for her NAJ title. Way to go Daria!! Tomorrow we move up to open which will be quite the challenge but we are ready to give it a go!

The first ever MS obedience trial sponsored by the American Miniature Schnauzer Club was Friday evening. It started about 6:15 and lasted till 10:30 or so. It was so exciting to be part of this event. Indee's breeder Sonny Lelle was trial chair and the support from the AMSC Board was really great. There were 31 entries and everyone who participated was awarded a rosette even if they didn't pass their class. High In Trial went to Pat Heinzelman from Fenton, MI and High Combined (highest combination of scores from Utility and Open B) went to Sharon Leone from the Chicago area. The trophies were beautiful silver trays.

Miss Mattie qualified in Utility for the first time since last June followed by a Q in Open too landing us our very first "X leg." It takes 10 to be a UDX standing for Utility Dog Excellent. We were ecstatic. Called several hundred of our closest friends. Lynn's Indee I thought looked good in Utility, but didn't Q. He's just starting to show in Utility working on his UD. He just needs some more time.

Indee did win $10 for being the Highest Scoring MS in Open in the all terrier Obedience trial. He only qualified one time in agility. I think it's hard on him to travel halfway across the country.

On Saturday, Indee got his MXJ (Master Agility Excellent Jumpers) title. He also got second place, qualified in Excellent Standard at 18 seconds under course time and earned 27 MACH points (You need 750 of these plus 20 times Qualifying in Jumpers with Weaves and Standard at the same trial) to earn an agility championship. Hi folks, Well, after a very long season with many close calls, Breezy finally put all the pieces together and earned the last leg for her Senior Earthdog title. She accomplished this in the middle of a Colorado snow storm. I’m beginning to think the worse the weather, the better she works as she also earned 2 of her agility double queues this year in the pouring rain. I knew there was a reason I called her my dirtdog. I’m attaching a picture that one of the club members took of the titling dogs at the earthdog show. It’s kind of hard to see, but Breezy is a dark salt and pepper and her legs are as white as her chest. If you could see the picture up close (I had to shrink it too much to include with this post) you would see that she is a solid mass of mud from her toes to her chest. But she had a lot of fun!! The Oklahoma City Obedience Training Club had a two-day, three trial show. The list's own moderater, Lynn Tamms was one of the judges and I was thrilled with how that worked out, because it is always so good to meet the members of this list. Lynn judged the Open ring, at the morning trial, Novice in the afternoon and will judge Rally tomorrow. Erika and I were entered in Novice A and Rally Novice A and were successful in both attempts! So Erika now has two legs towards her AKC C.D. title and best news of all, she got her third leg in Rally and now has her Rally Novice (R.N) title! And the fun part was that we got to somewhat redeem ourselves in front of Lynn Tamms, Angie and Red along with little Miss Annabelle. All in all it was a good weekend six entries and four legs (almost enough to walk on). We now have to move to the next level of Rally, which is all off lead and integrates jumps (although they are lower than obedience jumps). Kaye Kirk 10-05 |

I just wanted to post a huge
brag on my two girls, Molly and Maycee. I have been working agility with
them for over a year now and Molly has been doing AKC trials since
January. She is doing pretty well. We did have a set back when she hurt
her back – a non-agility accident. Anyhow, this weekend by me was a
NADAC trial. This was only our second NADAC and I couldn’t be more proud
of how my girls were! This was actually only Maycee’s second trial ever.
I’m holding back putting her in anything with weaves until she KNOWS
them. Molly and Maycee did so well! Molly Q’d in two rounds of
Touch-n-Go, one round of Jumpers, one round of Tunnelers, and three
rounds of Regular. She also earned her Touch-n-Go Novice title (TG-N)
and her Regular Novice title (NAC). |

Kirk's Erika das Schwarze completed her A.S.C.A. C.D. title over the Labor Day weekend. She received one leg at a trial in July and her second and third at the trial Labor Day weekend. It is kind of funny that on her three legs, she got a first, second and a third place (in descending order). I am entering several AKC trials this fall in hopes of getting our AKC CD, then we will see if we can move on beyond that.

I have to brag a little, Erika finally got an obedience leg today. We entered the ASCA show and she finally got one leg (and a first place) with a grand total of 170. I am still working on her heeling, but was pleased with her performance today.

Not a show brag, but a tribute to our training !! Rosie and I have been training to be Animal Assisted Therapy partners and yesterday afternoon took our "practical". She not only passed, but received a "complex" rating. Apparently this allows her to go anywhere and is not often given out. To say I am proud is an understatement

Dianne Armstrong and I "tripped" down to Georgia for the Perry shows last weekend. The best part of the trip was the first day at the dog show when Dianne and Mattie earned their Utility Dog title (UD). I was so proud to be there for that. Indee got his Rally Novice (RN) title on Sunday with a score of 99 out of 100 points. He did a great job.

Rosie and I were off in Pennsylvania last weekend at an agility competition. Our first run of the weekend started well until Rosie decided to run off course and go over to stand up on the judge for petting. Doesn't she know the judge can't be bribed?? Our second run was on a very difficult course which I was sure I'd get lost on. Much to my surprise, Rosie earned her first Excellent Jumpers leg on it and with a 2nd place ribbon! I got back from St. Louis yesterday clutching my green ribbon for Slick's MXJ (Master Excellent Jumper) title. We have been working for 4 years to get this title. You need to earn your AXJ (Agility Excellent Jumper) title and then qualify 10 more times. The courses are hard and the times are very short...this course was 44 seconds. Rosie's agility wins: she earned her Open Jumpers title on April 11, 2004 with a 3rd place win and her Open Standard title on September 30, 2004 with a 1st place win at the Montgomery Terrier Agility Cluster. Today was Molly’s second agility trial. For the first run, Jumpers with
Weaves, she missed the weave poles so we had a stall out there. But, oh
well! She took first place anyhow! She got a score of 99. Course time
was 41 seconds and she finished in 41.66 seconds. Not too shabby! One
more qualifying score in JWW and she will have her Novice Jumpers title!
The second run was the standard course and course time was 75 seconds, she finished in 56.91 seconds and took first place! So she got her first leg toward her Novice Standard title. J Sara Franson February 19, 2005 |

first trial. She had some mishaps. She ran out of the ring once on
Saturday and then today but she was one second away from qualifying on
Saturday and today, she earned her first leg towards her Novice A title

This was my club's (Oshkosh Kennel Club) winter obedience trial. I
showed Lark for the first time in Open....for the CDX title and she
qualified both days. Yesterday she got second place with a score of
191.5 out of 200 points. She also got two Rally Novice qualifying
scores this weekend. The best part though was when Slick got his first
UD leg (Utility Dog). This is the highest level of obedience and
I've been working and training for this for 2 years. His score was

AKC National Obedience and Agility Championships in Tampa, Florida
Barb Koscielski and her mini Double A's Savanna At Night (call nameSavanna) made it to the semifinals rounds with only 4 dogs left (all breeds) before finally losing. Great accomplishment! The dogs are the top 3 in each breed for the year (2004) who compete for the win, with everyone showing on Saturday and only the top 32 with the highest scorings going on to the final day Sunday when they compete through a set of elimination rounds until only one dog is left undefeated. Sheri Bailey, with her mini Bailey's Blue Sky (Nikki) one of "our own" did herself proud and I am sure she was very pleased to have her mini be one of the three highest scoring mini schnauzers invited to compete this year! We are proud of Sheri and her Bailey's Blue Sky! The third mini schnauzer invited to compete was Abbey of Lowry Hill owned by Michael Reardon. A mini schnauzer won in the 12" division of the Agility finals. Christine Frank and her mini Kimie won the 12" division of the National Agility finals and there were many other schnauzers there who did our breed proud! 1/15-16/05 |
| At the Cream City Canines agility trial in Milwaukee Thursday through Sunday. Indee earned his MX (Master Excellent) title yesterday. To get the MX, you need 10 perfect runs in the Excellent B Standard class. I'm really pleased that he did so well in earning the last 2 "legs" this weekend. | We passed our club's novice class and are currently enrolled in a trial procedures class, as well as a therapy class. I am proud to say that Kirk's Erika das Schwarze can now add CGC and TD to her name. She passed the tests last week and we are thrilled. She received third place in pre-novice at an obedience match a few weeks ago and I have just gotten brave enough to enter her in a real obedience trial this weekend. Hi All, Yesterday at the Cream City Canines Agility Trial in Waukesha, WI, Slick got his first excellent standard leg and first place. This was only his second time in excellent standard. Needless to say, I'm flabbergasted. He did sooooo well! I promise some pictures as soon as I have time to scan some. I didn't show today as I was judging Obedience for the Kettle Moraine KC which holds its conformation show & obedience trial at the same venue as the agility trial. Back to agility tomorrow. 6/6/00 On Saturday at the Packerland KC's agility trial, Slick got his second open standard leg and 1st place. He and I were a real team and it was lots of fun. Yesterday, he came out of his crate snorting....you know, those sounds schnauzers make when they're excited, and I knew it was going to be a wild ride. He was very fast in open standard and made too many mistakes, but he sure was fun. We were in excellent jumpers with weaves which is very hard. 6/05/00 Augie dog entered his 2nd and 3rd obedience trials this beautiful sunny weekend - and he qualified. He got his CD. All 3 trials that we entered were outdoors, and he qualified each time. 5/29/00 hi all, Just had to send a quick brag to the list. This past
weekend
Slick earned his NADAC (north american dog agility council) novice
certificate-NAC and his novice jumpers certificate-NJC at the DIGS agility trial in northern Illinois. NADAC has 4 runs per day and
he qualified once in jumpers and 3 times in standard. He was very
fast and really paid attention. we're off to the AKC trials this weekend, so keep

Dasher got his 2nd leg in Novice A today with a score
of 190. We were going for high score at 195, until the little
bugger got excited and started mouthing off to me. The crowd loved it, the judge did

Slick got his CDX today at the Fond du Lac co. kennel
club's show. I am so excited, because I'm a judge I have to show in the Open B class and that's kind of intimidating.
He got a 188, 4th place

We actually qualified in our very first try at Utility "A" with a 190 earning us 3rd
Place!! Actually all the statistics got broken that day. There were *5* total
qualifiers in Utility "A" out of the 9 that picked up!! It was
a *great* group of dogs!!!! The two best pieces of advice that I received
from most everyone was #1. Focus on one exercise at a time and think about what your doing. #2. Trust your dog!!!! We had entered Open "B" along with the Utility "A". I qualified both days in Open B. I took 4th Place on Saturday with a 192 and then 3rd Place on Sunday with a 192.5. Plus we got high scoring Terrier both days (way cool squeekie toys!!) - Jan M. I'll brag! I just got home from the
Waukesha Wisconsin dog training club's obedience trial. Slick qualified for his second leg in open. It wasn't quite a sterling performance, but I'll take it. He was enthusiastic
and had a good time and so did I. I saw lots of people I knew
and one of my best friends got second place in novice. Keep your fingers
and paws crossed for us tomorrow. If we qualify Slick will have his

| REBEL'S PAL JOEY, CGC, CD--That's my name after qualifying Saturday 11/13/99 at the Del Sur KC trial at the Rancho Santa Fe Polo Club in Del Mar, CA. 1st leg was at Irwindale on 11/6/99; 2nd at the San Diego OB Club trial on 11/12/99 and to top it off I put on a 4th, insurance leg at The Cabrillo Trial on 11/13/99. | Nikki and I earned a spot at the 1999 United States Dog Obedience Classic held in Indiana by coming in 7th place in the Open Division at the Regional Obedience. All of the best dogs and handlers in the United States were there competing in their division. Three shows were held over a period of 2 days with a total of 600 points that could be earned over the 3 shows. At the end of the weekend, Nikki had only lost 13 points out of 600 and was 17th out of around 55 - 60 dogs in the Open division. I also have to brag on the only other Mini Schnauzer that was competing in the Open division. She was Abby of Lowery Hill owned by Mike Reardon. Abby was cute and performed very well. What was so ironic was that at the end of the 3 shows, we ended up with the same score! (13/600). Go Schnauzers!!! I got to talk with Mike while there and really enjoyed our conversation. I wish the best to him and Abby as they enter Utility! Sheri |
